1968 912 or very basic 1968 911
Hello I am very new to classic cars and don't have much knowledge in engines etc.. But fell in love with my Beetle 1968 a year ago so I bought it as it was very cheap, it was a non runner with solid body very little rust (not structural) engine , gearbox everything is numbers matching did some re-commissioning work like new fuel tank, fuel line break cylinders tyres and I did all the cosmetic stuff like window seals, glass lifters, minor rusty electrical connection (light bulbs etc..) and gave it a nice polish , I really enjoyed the journey to bring her back to life and drive it, I am on the look out for my next move 1968 912, 911 very basic (or even a very very basic 1968 356) but has to be very very affordable (or if someone is generous to donate one, I will look after It

Affordable and air cooled Porsche don't often mix. A 68 912 is the transition from swb to lwb and there are some unique year features. It might make your project search a little harder. Maybe be flexible on the year.
A 911 will be more expensive but apart from the engine not harder/more costly to restore.
Being completely biased I think the 912 is a better car and since you have some flat 4 experience you can lean that way?
Sometimes cars come up on here that are reasonable.
