Overnight stop in Aalst. Small town mostly known for its pre Easter Carnival. Nice room, secure parking and only 3 mins off the motorway.

The town is waking up quite late even the coffee cafes don't open before 10am.

Graham will be happy to learn we are averaging 35gpm.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Always great to see a road trip report Neil, but I assume the 35 gallon per mile (gpm)is a typo.....

We have used one of our 3 spare fan belts! The car doesn't like crossing from the Netherlands into Germany.

Unfortunately, Mrs lost some skin off her knees push starting the car backwards. It shot away from her.

We are parked near the Rhine in Koln. It took me about 50 turns to parallel park:(

We had a wonderful breakfast in Belgium. Quite a lot of religious icons in Aalst.

Our Euro trip this year if flyand drive, not quite the same as ticking off road miles and all the places along the way.

So on my morning walk over a bridge in Frankfurt I found this? What advice do you think I sent?

Never start a land war in Asia?

Don't eat yellow snow?

Don't go on a driving holiday with a finance guy maintained 356?

Actually, as Bruster said, none of the above

Ps 33.7 MPG at the last fill

Have a great trip Neil & Mrs B 😁. Really looking forward to following your adventure. Full of admiration too for taking on such an epic road trip in the 356.

Uneventful, but stunning, driving today. 200 miles of rolling hills and beautiful countryside. I need to come back here with my CX bike and legs (from 20 years ago) so many dirt trails to ride.

We came out, in Frankfurt, to a patch of oil behind the car. Panic! I touched it and it was wet. Cold shiver. I had checked the previous morning and all was dry under our baby. Mrs M was quick to think cleaner and pointed out there were tyres tracks in it so it was there when we arrived. I calmed down and checked the photo I had taken yesterday and yes she was right. YUK started in the first turn and we were on our way to Wurzburg.

Some photos from Frankfurt. It reminded me of a very small London. Mix of modern and old.ImageImageImageImageImageImage
