Registering an Import Question

I woud be grateful for some DDK advice/wisdom please;

I'm in the process of registering my recently imported t4 Multivan (more than 10 years old). Having previously imported and registered my 912 I was under the impression that the vehicle needed to be be insured (third party fire & theft) but then saw the following wording on the DVLA website;

a certificate of insurance or cover note for vehicles
registered with a Northern Ireland address (downloaded
copies are acceptable, photocopies are not) which is
valid on the date the vehicle tax comes into force

Am I reading this correctly that I do not need to provide proof of insurance?

This would be convenient as my current insurer will not provide cover on the chassis number (only accidental fire and theft).

Unless things have changed in the last couple of years, the car does need to be insured in order to register it ...

Yes, definitely need insurance cover - if your current insurers won't cover it (maybe because it's a Multivan with potential to carry several passengers?) then you'll have no option but to find another company...

Looks like I may be looking for a new insurer if RH Specialist won't play ball. They've said its not something they offer now although used to. The bus is a 6-seater so no issues there.

Classicline insured to a chassis number until the car had a UK reg number if that helps, fetched a few over from LA.
