V8 Diesel Cayenne - Would this be a "wise" buy ??
The thought of a vehicle with approx 850 NM of torque , is starting to appeal to me ..............
Does anyone here have direct practical experience of these things (or should I wise up ?). I would clearly be buying used - and planning to service it myself (and would probably have to spend £20 - 25K to get something semi new and without intergalactic miles) ... although maybe something older with big miles would make more sense ??
Some itches one needs to scratch beore one gets tooooo old ? (some are also best left alone !!!)
Comments / thoughts / experiences please. (and no .... I'm not considering the v6 version !)

Interesting - Others have said (and I would have tended to agree) - get smaller rims ... and have better tyre choice and a better ride (use a deeper series tyre obviously) ..... why do you think 21" is a "must have" ?.

A bit late probably ! But if not check the control box connecting the drive shafts - bloody expensive to fix and prone to going at higher mileage.

Not too late , is this what is referred to as the "Transfer Box" ? If so - I have that on the radar (they changed design after a point) , if not - I'll need to dig more. Purchase still on radar ... but on hold (probably for 1 to 2 years) due to other major expense !

You need a V10 tdi Toureg. Same chassis, and the most awesome diesel engine ever. Porsche were fools not to offer it but at the time they said they'd never do a diesel...

Re: V8 Diesel Cayenne - Would this be a "wise" buy ??
Looked into one of these a while back, overarching issue seemed to be massive engine stuffed in tiny engine bay which makes some straightforward jobs anything but. I have a similar problem with my v5 sport beetle, everything seems to necessitate taking off the front wings, bumper, radiator etc... aside from that... seem pretty good value for money.

Re: V8 Diesel Cayenne - Would this be a "wise" buy ??
Hmm ... did consider , ruled out : Reliability issues (engine) , economy , not as powerfull or Torquey as Cayenne , not so many made (ask why), not so many for sale (less choice used) , Audi stopped V10 and put in similar (same base) V8 to Cayenne (again , ask why) , older design/ older manufactured , and so on. so yes ... like the idea , but not for me.
