VW Type 25 Engine rebuild recommendations

Post by Winston Teague »

Hi all, my 1987 VW t25 2.1 WBX DJ Engine needs a rebuild.... is there any experience out there of competent specialists who could undertake this job for me?

I am wanting this one done, rather than an exchange unit, I've already been through a Remtec recon unit, never again.....

All the best, W

I would recommend Jason at Aircooled Hut, found him and the team to be helpful, explains everything, including problems, solutions and costs. Just a practical guy.

Have a look at campershack on Facebook. No personal experience. However they are used to the problems with getting parts for those engines (camshafts are unobtainable in the correct spec for the DJ and rebuilders do throw in the 1.9 cam which isn’t the same). Similarly, the clips on the rocker shafts are unique, and not the same as the beetle version most would fit.

Angus and crew at Greatworth Classics - after all, they are camper specialists alongside the Porsche business...

You could also try Classic VW Parts direct in Germany to see what they may have?
