My 1970T has two makeshift bolts through the rusty floor and not reinforced, directly behind the seat, with a lap belt attached. I doubt this would restrain my lockdown belly in the event of even a minor collision. There's an unused bolt in the top of the B-pillar where i can mount a coathanger type bracket but where are the fixings for the remainder of a 3-point harness? Nothing in the inner sill and nothing apparent at the centre chassis member. There's a hole near the bottom of the B-pillar but no reinforcing or t-bolt on the back of it. Not sure I have access to the back there.
The car has aftermarket seats - is it possible the original mounts were in the seat?
Also, what seatbelts do people prefer to fit in these motors (assuming we're going for something relatively original) and what would they have had originally?
What's the deal with 1970 seatbelt mounts?

1970 911T, Signal orange (Restoration thread)
1988 3.2 Carrera backdate, Black
2001 996 Turbo, Lapis blue (am I allowed to put that here?)
I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

Re: What's the deal with 1970 seatbelt mounts?
Dave O'connor AKA Stretch on here is the resident seatbelt guy. Produces lovely restored original Repa belts.
On my 1970 I have retractor belts made up from original Repa static lap and diagonal belts with new period correct webbing from Stretch. The retractor reel is mounted low on the inner sill whilst the running loop is above it on the B post. Both anchors were installed when some work was done on the car. The other two anchors are on brackets sandwiched between the seat runner and runner mounts on the floor. The problem with early original runners is that they only have one locker and in the event of a major shunt the seat can move forward. To limit this I have bolts at the front of the runners to act as stops for the seat limiting its forward movement.

Re: What's the deal with 1970 seatbelt mounts?
Thanks for the tip. I need a quick fix for the MOT so I'll probably put some generic retractors in for now I guess and weld some brackets in unless that causes gasps of horror.BILLY BEAN wrote:Dave O'connor AKA Stretch on here is the resident seatbelt guy.
