2.4S oil pressure

Post by Dougieboy1 »

when hot at idle, oil pressure seems to barely register. Whilst driving mid range revs, pressure 40-50.

Is this normal? I did some googling and the suggestion is that this is ok.... but i am paranoid....

Just above zero on both of mine when the oil is hot - that's to be expected when the oil is hot and thin at idle. No doubt there are slight variations in the pressure sender and gauges, and also the state of the wires and connections from car to car too, and oil differences, and idle speed, that can all influence what the gauge shows a little bit...

thanks everyone for the reassurances - I am used to old british and american engines where close to zero at idle usually means trouble....

Have just refitted the MFI pump to the car which proved to be massively less rebuilt than the vendor claimed. Took the car out and experienced for the first time, that surge of power from around 4,000 revs - its like the car has a turbo fitted! Super impressed and for the early 1970's, it must have been a rocketship! I can see why people who start with Porsche's frequently go no further!
