Smugglers box question

Post by rdg496 »

I have slowly started to have a delve into my recently purchased (3mths back) 1969 911T.
I decided to give the boot a clean out and see if any issues were lurking.
So far so good, some very minor loss of paint and surface rust, which I am treating, applying zinc primer and basic black paint top coat just for protection.........the car is in very good structural shape, will be well used and cared for but by no means a concourse winner.....rust prevention is paramount vs shiny shiny.

In the smugglers box there is the rubber cap that seals the hole into the transmission tunnel/floor......is it worthwhile spraying some cavity wax in there OR are there holes that will cause the wax to leak into the carpet in the cabin?

There is a small metal plate and rubber seal that close the hole in the floor, it has a metal brace I assume holds the seal in place. The rubber seal is past its best and the metal brace has I think snapped in half. Can these parts be bought or is it a case of fabricating something ?

Many thanks.

The only other rust I can find...well so far...again surface rust.
Also what's the rubber hose I the picture, hole facing up......drain from the scuttle ?

Battery boxes in decent shape just some minor bits of missing paint

Cheers
