Gearbox pressure plate removal
Hi folks
I'm probably going to make myself look a complete numpty but how do you get the pressure plate off the gearbox (manual box codes are 911/01 7 70 1992).
Worried about damaging anything by levering on the casing so i thought i'd ask the experts as i can't seem to figure it out... any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
For reference the Clutch fork still attached and the plate slides in & out ok
Cheers in advance

I think he means the sportomatic version of the box, I'm curious too!

Re: Gearbox pressure plate removal
I’m guessing, since you have the “pull” clutch 911 gearbox, you have split the engine/ gearbox and are left with the clutch pressure plate being locked onto the gearbox.
I believe this is removed by rotating the release bearing so the clutch plate is no longer held by the lugs.

Gearbox pressure plate removal
Release bearing pulls the pressure plate towards the gearbox to disengage (& change gear), instead of pushing the pressure plate towards the engine to disengage.
The main difference between the early 901 gearbox and the next version (the 911/) which was replaced by the 915

Re: Gearbox pressure plate removal
tks, I've seen/worked on the later 901 (as well as the 915 and G50), but not seen the earlier one in action.
