12 point early door hinge bolts

Post by Gary71 »

I’ve searched high and low and can’t locate 6 of the original splined door hinge bolts, also a couple of others have suffered a bit and could do with replacement.

So as a minimum I need 6, ideally 8

Gary,
if Andy can't help I have some bolts I had manufactured. Correct size head and 12 point socket. They do not have the maker's name in the bolt face but this is not visible anyway after painting.

Sorry Gary - I've drawn a blank - checked the places where I thought they were.

I have a couple more places to look but I have a feeling I sent them to someone else earlier this year ...

I was looking into these for my car, though it turned out that 73 cars switched to normal hex bolts.

Found these M8 x 28's on Ebay, which could be cut down.... pretty sure that these will be the correct type triple square bolts

Thanks Dean, Being an ex VW man I've already bought some and turned them down, the spline is correctly but the head is the wrong size.
Cheers for the tip though. :)

Just a very distant thought Gary, are these 12 points he same as 2.4 flywheel bolts?
The 3.2 engine 12 points have a large head diameter, but iirc the 2.4's are small and might be the same as the door ones?

Type911 part # 1975, might be worth calling them? (£6 each)
