3.0 oil cooler requirements

Has anyone ran a 3.0 successfully without the front cooler. i do not really wanna run oil lines down the car if i can help it . i did think about putting a cooler just in front of the rear wheel has anyone done this with positive results. Thanks in advance for any input

My thermostat rarely opens. It's got to be a hot day stuck in traffic. My needle barely ever goes past 8 o'clock.
