Caliper Plating & Anodizing
Are there any UK places that people use for restoring their calipers? I know PMB seems to be the place to go in the US... I need my steel rears plating di-chromate and my ally fronts anodizing (not sure on the technical difference here., plating vs anodizing.....)
Any info on somewhere that can do both of these would be great

I used these guys:
http://www.classicarautomotive.co.uk/
I too had aluminium fronts and steel rears and they came out fine.

Re: Caliper Plating & Anodizing
My local platers http://www.jsjfinishing.co.uk did my plating (& heat treatment of bolts to avoid embrittlement). Their website mentions anodising but not used that (yet).
I had to fully clean all paint off & I chose to split my callipers.

Re: Caliper Plating & Anodizing
Classicar are the guy's to do steel calipers, but they didn't do Anodizing when i had my front S calipers done by them. They actually painted them without my consent so i sent them back to be stripped again.

Classicar did mine in 2014 and this is what they produced:

Are the fronts not anodized?

Re: Caliper Plating & Anodizing
This is mine, just back from Classicar in early 2015. They have since done 5 seasons of championship hillclimbs, double driven, without the slightest problem. I'm well pleased with them

Re: Caliper Plating & Anodizing
I have used Classicar, totally recommend them.
They have done 911s F & R, C3 F & R and 89 3.2 F & R. They all have come back very good and spot on when I have gone for mots.
They were also very good when I sent a heavily corroded set of fronts of my 993TT. They refused to do them after they had cleaned them up which I was a bit annoyed about as I didnt think they were that bad. They sent them back FOC for me to look at and i had to agree they were definitely scrap!

Re: Caliper Plating & Anodizing
Well sent my calipers to Classicar as recommended. Heard nothing for 10 days, called them, they said "oh yeah we wanted to talk to you about these before doing anything", obviously not that bad to sit on them for 10 days and I still called them first. Despite being told over the phone they can do 911 calipers they are telling me they cant anodize the front ally calipers and can only plate the rears. Very odd given all the info you have all given me, I asked if he was sure a number of times, and tbh wasn't convinced they knew what they were talking about. So now im getting only my rears done. Ill have to find somewhere else to anodize my front calipers apparently.

Give Pete at Badger anodising https://www.badgeranodising.co.uk/ in Birmingham a call , he may be able to help with the aluminum calipers.

Re: Caliper Plating & Anodizing
JW's and my fronts look the same - maybe they are not anodized and it's some other plating or treatment?

Re: Caliper Plating & Anodizing
No, mine weren’t painted. I don’t think they were anodised either, especially since I didn’t ask for it. I think they were just cleaned up.
