Anyone know what the name of this connector is and where I can buy a male one ? ( the female has a metal lock clip )

Try RS Components ltd, the connectors are made by AMP iirc.

for interest, this is the windscreen washer pump from my 964 , mine has started leaking whilst sat in the garage and I cant tell if its just from the seal from when you push the pump into the tank or wether the seal within the pump has failed .... so I'm planning on replacing both.

Problem is the new replacement pumps ( which appear to be the same through to 996's ) have a different ( cheaper to produce ) electrical fittings ( these can be bought as a kit ) and I'd rather not splice the original wiring loom. I have thought I could make an adapter to plug in between the new pump and original socket which is why I'm keen to source an new connector .

BUT, whlist on my trawl through the internet pics of pumps, it appears most washer pumps look identical & I have found one which has the same electrical fittings & appears to have the same pipe outlet .... thing is it is for a Vauxhaul corsa / vw caddy . I've ordered one for the grand total of £12 del so will be interesting to see if it fits. Ironically the small rubber bung / seal for the pump into the tank cost more than the pump

Its a 2-pin mini timer connector.

The male connector is harder to come by, but these guys sell it... (I'm sure a lot of other places do to)

I think literally every connector on a mk2 Golf is one of those!
