Had the gearbox replaced by a local company, with a reconditioned one, in our discovery. Picked up the last day before lockdown in March. Changed the oil and saw this on the magnet? Too much metal surely? I wanted to ask an opinion before I went back to them

No experience of 356 gearboxes and what’s typical for ‘bedding in’, but if it were mine I’d be concerned.
The oil was up to the normal level and it's a R380 gearbox for a Land Rover. I suspect they just change the bearing but there is wear in the gear or syncos!

I have posted on a lr but I don't think they are out of bed yet.
Called the garage and sent the picture

Graham I didn't measure the oil that came out but the oil level was correct. I always undo the fill bolt before draining and oil come out when I undid it

Garage said not to worry. Gearbox settling in. I asked if I checked in 1000-2000 miles it will be better and they replied yes. We are going to Devon this week after we get back I will check again.
Not sure I believe them but ...
