Simple control arm query

I am stripping my car to the shell and have it all but done. I took the rear suspension off this morning and before I hit it too hard - ask how to remove the control arms from the torsion bar.

I have removed the four bolts and the cover plate. Should the metal spacers between that and the body come away - they are preventing the torsion bar from becoming relaxed.

Then, will the control arms fall off, need some effort or a lot of effort to get them off the ends of the torsion bar.....Simple stuff but it would help to know the sequence.
