Silverstone porsche auction

Post by takeflight »

Popped along to have a nose, not a lot sold, which at the guide prices not surprising. May be silverstone valuing what the vendors won’t to hear. However they need stock for the sale so must be difficult to squash owners expectations.
Unless you know the car or there’s wriggle room on the price to put things right, why would anyone buy a car at auction at more or less retail.

Indeed.

When the market tightens good, unrepeatable stuff still does well at auction: The 928 GT, a very nice car last time I saw it in 2012, made strong money at £51k.

Repeatable, average stuff only sells if guided sensibly: At £63k the Cayman GT4 was usefully under what dealers are asking, so it sold.
Secret £200k+ water cooled restomod project.
