I've just put my rear suspension back together after changing the rear wheel bearing, I'm just at the point where I need to re attach the brake caliper and do up the hub nut, however I've noticed that when I spin the hub there is a point where there is slightly more resistance than the rest. It will still rotate OK but you can definitely feel a slight tight spot, any ideas what could be causing this? Should I worry or just strap it all back together and see how it drives?
Also having a problem getting the outer CV boot to stay on when rotating the hub, I have it strapped on as tight as it will go but after a few rotations it slips out of the clip, I've resorted to using cable ties in the short term which seems to hold it on well but obviously not right. Is it possible that the clip has stretched out over time or am I missing something here, presuming there doesn't need to be any sort of sealant between the boot and the CV joint?

Is the handbrake mechanism 'free' or adjusted already to the disc? Easy to get a 'spot' by the shoe(s) catching the inner surface of the disc drum.
I've held CV boots on using ties for years esp at the hub end as it runs a bit cooler there. I make sure the inner surface of the boot is grease-free as well as the CV/drive shaft surfaces before fitting and adding the clips or ties. The shaft has two concentric ribs forged into them, you are not over stretching the small end of the boot and covering them are you? The small end is tied between the 2 ribs to stop it from slipping along the shaft.
Should say, all my 911 experience is on a 73T hot rod.
Other years may be different.

resistance when spinning without the caliper attached?
Look at what is attached, is the drive shaft in properly or is it rubbing on rotation? second guess, is the bearing in square and seated where it should be?

Thanks both for replies, caliper and disk not on yet, boot is on right at the little end but no strap so does move around a little (didn't have one before disassembly but had no issues until now). I will source some straps and see if this helps.
Bearing should be in ok, was done in a friends workshop on a presss, seemed to spin fine when I tested it on collection.
Dean, not sure where the driveshaft would rub on rotation?

If there is no resistance anywhere from brakes/driveshafts etc then it must be the bearing as that is the moving part. could be a duff bearing.

I think you need to detail or picture the hub so all can see what is there or not.
Most bearings that are duff rumble or are notch, but one high spot seems strange to me
It is nothing to remove parts, callipers off, disc off and the drive shaft too so you simply have the arm and the drive shaft stub axle in site.
If the assembly has a split pin axle nut is that contacting anywhere?
I am assuming everything is clean. There is not much clearance between the arm casting and the drive flange, muck and bullets can get lodges in the gaps.
