Silverstone Classic 2019

Post by bjmullan »

So how is going to Silverstone this year. It will be my first visit to the Classic along with Margaret and Tom in their new motorhome. Travelling down on the Thursday for an evening arrival. Quite a few TIPEC members coming from Scotland are going.

Weather forecast is looking good and if you finds us in the camp site your are assured of a coffee/tea/bacon roll/seat/shelter/beer/craic* (* delete as required).

Thanks boydy - if I come it’s most likely a day trip on the Saturday or Sunday (Sunday most likely)

I’ll give you a shout when I’m there

AAAAARGH!!!!

Went to buy my tickets online last night thinking I'd be able to get an e-ticket and read that it needs to be printed off and the paper brought to the gate. I can't easily print at home so I made a note to buy the ticket this morning at work.

Went on to the site this morning and all ticket sales are closed! WTF!

I appreciate I left it to the last minute but there was no indication on the site that this was a problem or that online sales would be closing

If anyone has a spare ticket for Sunday I'd happily buy it off you.

Mark - I am going on Sunday and will very likely have a spare ticket. You are welcome to it if we can arrange to meet up en route or at the circuit. I am guessing I will be there 9-10am.

Drop me a PM if of interest and we can arrange.

Some photos of the day on Friday.

Porsche Parking. I spotted at least one other DDK car.

Great detail with the spots on top of the nerf bars.

Very nice tiny front number plate made with those front door numbers you get at B&Q. Which is where I'm going tomorrow morning. :)

From the same stable.

As Hillclimber said, one of the nicest things about Classic Silverstone is being able to wander into the pit garages and see incredible cars.

Image

Image

^ This Maserati was the most beautiful perfect thing. Ever.

Minis get ready for a run round the track.

Image

....and Figaros.

Image

An SP. I always fancied an SP. Think of all those lovely carburettors to tune. :P
Fortunately common sense has so far prevailed.

Image

I wandered around wondering what car I'd have instead of the 356.....

Image

..... so it's safe at the moment. :)

Plonker plates were popular in Ferrari parking.

Image

But there was beauty too.....

Image

And at the end of the day Hayley found the perfect match. :laughing6:

Image

We had a great day. The sun shone and there was a cooling breeze. The 356 ran without a hitch.
