testing photo insertion using www.freeimagehosting.net

I might have found the answer after the help by Andy the other day to be able to post my photo's.
After choosing this photo I took a few days ago from my documents I used http://www.picresize.com to resize my pic from its original width of 3,264 pixels x height of 2,448 pixels by 50% to 1,632 x1224 pixel. This gives a file size of 463KB against the original 1288KB. The photos have to reduced in size for the forum to display.

When picresize have reduced it you save the image to your disc and then then this file is to upload by using the freeimagehosting site. You then have an uploaded pic and the full URL. If this is copied then only part of it is used on the forum using the IMG tags in the address bar.
The part of the file needed is https://i.imgur.com/Z2PypDf.jpg.

So:

We will see if this works ? On a preview check, it seem the image is still too large at 50% reduction maybe another try later at 75% Sorry from my errors if thats the case !!

Well done Roy - but as you say, still a bit too big.

I usually try to post pictures in 800 x 600 size (or close) so that viewers can see the whole picture without having to scroll left-to-right.

Thanks so much Andy, I gave up after photobucket which was so useful. I am trying below the 75% reduction in size. Its near to your 800x600 pixel that worked so well for you above.

I'll have to give this a go. I edit my pics down from 4000 odd pixels down to 500 odd which seems to be an acceptable size for publication but that means the picture is just over postage stamp size, See below to get the size my pics are reduced to. Really no good for man or beast or viewing. I do like to have a decent insertion.

Yes, I also think the photo should be of a reasonable size and Andy is correct if its too big you then need the scroll across the page which is annoying.

www.picresize.com the site I have been using offer a wide range of values confusing till you try them.

From now on I will just click on the drop down box which is set to 50% reduction and change it to 75%

That is all I need to do on the size factor. It advised me using that 75% value the pixel width and pixel height value is then 816 x 612 and the file size is 157 KB. As all my photos I take are the same size then I think the I will use always 75%.

On the www.freeimagehosting.net site used to upload the resized photo onto, I see no area where you can see a file of the pictures you are uploading. It seems you have to treat each photo as a separate item and have to make sure the url address is copied and part you need to enter between the IMG tags is noted down for each photo. That was where Andy's advice early on this post was so useful.

Forum photos can be really useful sometimes and I was really confused until now by it all.
