RHD 2.4E on ebay

Post by IanM »

I'm surprised no-one has started a topic here about the 2.4E currently being offered on ebay. It's been there for about 3 days already.

Has any DDKer been to see it? What is it like?

If it’s the one on the trailer you are going to need £100k unless you can do absolutely everything yourself and you have a jig.

Yeah, I was looking at it this afternoon and thought along the same lines. Total basketcase.
No mention or pictures of the engine. Forget about it.

Roof pillars will probably have you in tears on this one. Could always be a convertible....!

Lots of "parts by separate negotiation to build the car". Clearly not complete then. Ikea sell kitchen cupboards like that so perhaps the seller is on to something in terms of a sales pitch?

In the listing it says one of the options was: 416 - Steering wheel with Elevated Hub. I've not heard of this beofre. Does it raise the height of the wheel or bring it closer to the driver?

.
Closer to the driver - basically it's a solid spacer between the splined hub & the steering wheel ...

I have one on my 73T.
Moves the wheel 10mm closer, but also moves the centre up by 15mm, more comfort for me, clearer view of the instruments.

Imho that car needs looking at directly to pass real judgement, but it looks rough from the outside but the seller does declare this.
30k for a 72 911E rhd project?
Probably about right today.

That's an aftermarket spacer though ...

The 'elevated hub' steering wheel under discussion here was a Factory option when the car was new .

Probably no worse than my T was and a desirable year, spec and colour.

Certainly worth saving.
