Hi
Has anyone removed the rear top shock mount on a 356? mine has cracked all the way round on RH rear but seems to be held in by more than the plate it was attached to. Does anyone know what's inside?
Cheers
Paul

Re: 356 top rear shock mount
i'd be interested to know if they are prone to failure....the mounts on my T5 do look weak, why didn't they brace it up the inner arch?

Re: 356 top rear shock mount
Hi Paul
This mount has a square bar behind it that is welded into the inner structure, see the part that Restoration Design are producing. Replacing this is a big job and not for the faint hearted.
Justin has pictures on his Coupe to Speedster blog on the ABCGT forum.

Re: 356 top rear shock mount
Hi Drew,
I have now completed the job, I saw the restoration design part but strangely it wasn't like the mount on my car. Maybe back in the mists of time someone created their own mounts. Anyway I reproduced what was there but in thicker metal.

Drew,
Pleased Paul found a way to do that job, I looked at mine and thought the same as you Justin must haver done it. But... I am confused by that drawing. I can't see how it works. Thank goodness mine are not cracked I must look at Justins coupster build just do not remember this part. A large flat
plate maybe.
Still confused
