15" Fuchs for 2,2 T my 1970 vs 15" Fuchs for 2,4 T my 1972

Post by Max911 »

Dear all, another time here to get help from you, Gentlemen.

My Porsche specialist told me that on my car I have not the correct Fuchs: he says that I have those of 2,4 instead of those for 2,2

My car is a 911 T 2,2 model year 1970, produced for USA market in december 1969 not fitted from factory with fuchs wheels but present on car when I bought it as a resto-project.

Not being able to distinguish them I kindly ask you how, if you have pictures please post them or Porsche part number codes.
I know that exists flat and dished Fuchs but I'm not able to identify them correctly.

On Porsche catalogue I found only 1 part number: 911.361.020.00
With this description 6x15" H2 ET36.

Following pictures of my Fuchs perfectly refurbished by a local specialist, used also by Porsche Classic dealer of my city.

Many thanks as usual

This has been posted many times before - I take no credit, but your car should have deep 6's

Thanks again!

What I need to understand now if deep or flat are the right ones for my car.
I can't find on PET Porsche catalogue the part number of "deep" associated to my 2,2 T year 70...
If anybody else have sone reference more... Really appreciated.
Max

Unless upgraded, the 70 T came with 14 x 5.5 fuch wheels. The upgraded wheel would have been the deep 6 wheel with part number ending 06.

@redrobin911 thanks, what I meant is that 901.361.012.06 I can't find in any PET catalogue nor on Johnson 911

@stretch thanks, important info but where can we find confirm of this? On PET? Other spare parts catalogue?

Thank you all

.
Max (?) - the information was/is in the original (Factory) Parts Manual & Workshop Manual.

From the workshop manual:

- 'the change from deep sixes to flat sixes was made on 26th March 1971'

Your wheels are period correct for your car so personally I’d run with them .

You’d need the build sheet to know exactly how it left the factory

@lightweight thanks, I miss that manual

@hot66 thanks. I'm In Italy, the car is a usa 911 my 1970 and on build sheet there are no Fuchs opt. She left factory on std original wheels.

With "period correct" you mean that being fitted with Fuchs not in factory but later as aftermarket option the fact that are original Flat Fuchs it's ok?

By the way are you able to confirm me that deep Fuchs need inner tube? This unsafe feature is enough to convince me in keeping my flat fuchs that are tubeless

It all depends if you are creating an original car or upgrading to something you prefer and that then depends on whether you want an original factory option available at the time or a personal touch without regard to originality. All the wheels mentioned (and others) will fit your car perfectly well so your specialist mechanic is simply asking do you want the ‘correct’ wheels or not?

Mike

Your deep 6’s are period correct for your car rather than the flat 6’s which are 72model year onwards

Ok thanks again.

All clear now. At the moment I have flat Fuchs so not period correct actually.
Maybe I can try to arrange an exchange.
