Anyone own a Porsche-built '69 Coupé ?

Post by Lightweight_911 »

.

- as opposed to a Karmann-built model ?

I used to own 129 000 412 approx 15 yrs ago (a Tangerine LHD car in fabulous condition) & recently posted a couple of pictures of it in the 'Porsche picture of the day' thread - including a shot of the original bonnet badge which threw up a question from DDKer '210bhp'.

Mike (210bhp) is the 'orange bars' bonnet badge afficionado (& also undertakes restoration of the badges) & I'm trying to help him pinpoint when some of the slight variations occurred so I would like to try & determine the approx build date of my old car.

It was one of only 428 Porsche-built '69 Coupés (the vast majority - approx 3480 - were built by Karmann) so I've been unable to find any details of similar cars to narrow down when it came off the production line.

If the production rate was fairly consistent it would probably have been built in June '69 but I'd like to try & get a more accurate idea.

If you have a '69 Porsche-built 912 Coupé could you either pm me the details or post here ?

Thanks
Andy

129000363 April 17 is the best I can come up with. I think June would be a little late.

Thanks Dave - the only other Porsche-built '69 model details I've found are for 129 000 167 which was built on 10th Jan so we have:

'167' - 10.01.69

'363' - 17.04.69

This suggests that the production rate during this time was ~ 15 cars per week which would make the approx build date for '412' ... 2nd week in May ?
