356 cab

Post by 210bhp »

I’ve got this friend see, well not so much a friend as an acquaintance, actually to be honest I’ve not met him but I know who he is from t’internet and he seems like a nice chap.

So, I saw his ad and thought that’s right up my street. A barn find cab and still original paint, tatty, faded, a bit bashed here and there but my ‘friend’ Mr Guillemot reckons I could get it for under 80k even though he says the price is firm to everyone else. Well, I was just wondering, as I like this car so much, if you guys thought a cab in this condition was worth that much. I’m not familiar with 356’s but I thought if I asked your advice here I could just buy it and bring it back if you thought it was worth it. I mean, you don’t often get a nice dry unrestored cab like this coming your way very often. It looks original, dry and above all not rusty. I really like the unusual colour too. I would just clean it up and use as is. I hate those over restored Pebble Beach examples that you daren’t touch never mind drive. I’m like it so much I’m going to keep it for myself or I might flip it if anyone her could give me a profit.
You all know who I am. I’m honest and I wouldn’t take you in for more than 10k, promise.

I actually actually really really like this car. Rare hard top too.

Don’t you guys be phoning. I saw it first.

It probably is worth 80K at the moment, but it probably ended up in a shed because it wasn’t driveable any more. Which means you may have to spend another 80K rebuilding it to a good standard and once you start it needs to be a perfect job or you won’t get your money back of you don’t like it. This is why they get sold as found.

Doesn’t mean you ought not to buy it though. They’re lovely cars.

The invoice is a very nice item to have. I would hope the missing engine parts are available with it.

No, it wasn’t me but I may have let the cat out of the bag for the flippers by posting.
Andy spotted the ruse.

A little cheeky/cocky, whatever but there's relatively high entertainment value in it!
