VW 412LS Variant

Post by Archie »

I know some of you have aircooled VW's .. so this may be of interest.

1972, 1800cc twin carb, manual.
70,000 miles, 12mths MOT .. no advisories.
Four owners from new

This 412 had been of the road for at least 15yrs & restored slowly
over that period .. now fully restored.
Far to much has been done in the restoration to go into to, I'll go into more details with genuine inquiries that phone.

The highlights:
1800cc engine completely rebuilt £K's, less than 100miles
Gearbox rebuilt.
Body, Chassis, panels & doors all solid.
Brakes completely rebuilt as is the Hydraulic clutch system.
Steering & suspension rebuilt.
15" Wolfrace Alloys with as new Hankook tyres.
The inner floor pan has had 3 coats of Por15 & a sound proofing layer before refitting the interior which is in good condition.
Mint headlining & no cracks in the dash
Resprayed many years ago in it's original Alaska Metallic blue, the bumpers & light surrounds have been colour coded which I think suits it.
Completely under sealed in Shutz/wax oil.
Two period Britax fixed 3 point belts in the rear.
As with all Variants loads of room, nice & smooth to drive.
Figures vary but there are only about 20 RHD 412LS Variants on the road, & with any rare(ish) vehicles it's important that they are complete .. as most parts are thin on the ground/impossible to fine.

Things to do/keep you buzy:
It'll need the V5 upgrading to Historic Tax .. so it's tax free.
As it's Original/unmolested it will soon be MOT exempt if that's your thing .. again the V5 needs sending of to be updated.
The previous owner had restored the Eberspacher petrol heater, but I have not had it working. The type4 heater fan is present, small amount of work to get it going.

Flaws:
Despite the paint looking good in the pic's it's not perfect .. fine for a daily runner.
The chrome waist trim is missing.

I brought this & have spent the last 5mths finishing it off, But my mortgage company has shafted me and a couple in the fleet have to go :( .. having had said that I'm firm at £7k.
More pic's .. can email
