Unforseen life changes mean that I very reluctantly have to sell my beloved 914 - its an easy project in my opinion and have spent a hatload of cash on it to get it right. Its an ex California car so has a rock solid body, hell-hole solid, sills fantastic, floorpan excellent. interior was removed to sort out a small amount of rot beneath the rear window and the whole of the internal floorpan derusted and painted. Rear window rubber replaced, superb quality complete exterior repaint back to the original red (from Silver).
The car requires an engine/gearbox/brake rebuild (engine and gearbox removed from car to facilitate this). The engine was rebuilt by Stateside and is bored out to 2.1 litres, was running well (surprisingly well actually) on chinese copy IDF44 twins - and absoloutely flies sounding like a proper racecar through a Bursch lookalike exhaust system (no heat exchangers fitted). Low compression was discovered on no. 3 cylinder so engine was removed to rebuild it and then life stepped in and decided to throw a large adjustable spanner in the works.... Gear box was running ok but crunching when engaging first and is noisy in first and third - never bothered me really and improves as it warms through. Good opportunity to check and rebuild though.
Ideal for a 6 cylinder conversion at this stage as everything is stripped to convert, personally I like the rortiness of the 4 cylinder which sounds most unlike an aircooled VW engine!
Car was stripped externally to facilitate the repaint - new Porsche rubber seals included for the front and rear boots are included, rechromed door handles, plus door and drop glass seals all either Porsche original or Mittelmotor supplied. Wheels are by Revolution with Proxes tyres.
