2 litre twin spark

Post by YeehafoofooMcgraw »

Hi

I have a MP&P 2 litre twin spark engine coming up for sale in Jan. It's done just a couple of thousand miles and cost a rather lot of money.

It's a flier, beautifully carburetted, no splutters or flat spots, it just goes. Or cruises. It suits a 356 very well.

There's and ad on car and classic which includes a photo. I can't seem to load photos on this site, but can email some if you are interested.

I have a CD full of the build pictures and all invoices.

Ta

Hi

Thank you for your interest. Some folks want to know about the engine, some want to know why I'm selling a perfect engine. Gotta be crap, if you're selling, right?

Wrong. I'm very easily influenced and always very excitable. Whilst chatting with Dean Polopolus at the beginning of this year I got all giddy about one of his 2.5 litre OHC 911 type 4 cylinder engines and 5 speed 901 box. And ordered one.

Chatting with Steve at Jaz Porsche, he seemed to think fitting two engines was a bad idea, despite my protests of there being space under the front bonnet for one.

So that's why my perfect 2 litre is for sale.

Do tell us all more about the Popopolopolopolous engine.

How does it compare to the twin spark, both in terms of power and money invested?

I'd like to know much more about both engines, i'm not going to buy either (sadly), but am fascinated by them. I would very much like to understand the possibilities that can go in the space at the back of a 356. This winter sees me replacing the 2.1 WBX in my camper, and i quite fancy using the old one as a parts donor if the innards can go in an aircooled case.....Does the Polo use a modified 911 crankcase and camboxes or are they bespoke? I can't tell you how they compare yet as the Polo motor is still in California.

The 2 litre twin spark is a joy to drive. The car zips up to an indicated 100mph in no time and will happily sit there all day. The MP&P engine was claimed to be 155hp whilst the Polo motor claims 200hp with 170 ft lb torque. Coupled with a 5 speed box, it should be thrilling.

Good engines for road and rally
Have one in my S90

Gives 175 bhp usable power.

Also built at Sce a two litre for special that gave 207 bhp

Would be interested in buying it.

Hi Neil

Sorry for using the wrong part of the forum. It's my cars fault. Ever since I bought my Outlaw, I just seem to have a blatant disregard for rules. It's terrible. Last night I went swimming, lengths only class. I did widths.

FFS Neil .. too harsh.

YeehafoofooMcgraw reply made me laugh  . I'm also genuinely interested in the specs of the motors and use .. so consider this a sale thread turned into a discussion
