911 front hub offsets ?

Post by amallagh »

Hi,
I've bene looking at some 911 front hubs to try to determine if I could use a different hub to improve front tyre to arch clearance issues on my RS running 205 tyres up front. I currently have 47mm offset hubs which I think are standard for a '73 RS. As far as I am aware these same 47mm offset hub started with the '68 model year cars. Is this correct ?
See picture below of a 32mm and 47mm offset hubs.

What model/year are the 32mm offset hubs from ? Are these only for use with solid discs or did they also accommodate the early '67S vented disc.
With a 32mm offset hub then my S calipers would definitely hit the wheel so the 32mm offset hub would not be ideal in any case. Either that or I'd have to fit extra long wheel studs and add a spacer which isn't an elegant solution.

I'm led to believe there is 40mm offset hub as well. You can see it mentioned and pictured on this link

There is conflicting information on this link about what model and year it was from and the part number.
Can anyone help clarify what model, year and disc type was used with the 40mm offset hub and what the part number is ?
Would the 40mm offset hub fit on later struts with the S caliper bolt spacing, or would spacers be required on the caliper to get the disc to line up ?
If anyone has some 40mm offset hubs then I might be interested in buying them (depending on whether they fit) , or swapping some 47mm hubs that I have spare.

Cheers
Andrew
