1976 porsche 912E

Good evening all or good morning depending on where you are.
Hoping for some advice or just general opinions.
I've been recently reconsidering my Porsche approach. I have a Slate Grey 1965/66 Porsche 912 which I'm into a long term personal restoration - nut and bolt bare metal, that will not be sold unless its torn from my dead hands. A 1972 911T 2.4MFI which Im investing some love and care in as well , and a 1976 Porsche 912E. Anyone who was at Stanford Hall in April will have seen the 912E. It was the white one with Lobster Red Interior parked in the middle , excellent runner and fair condition overall. the 1972 911T and 1976 912E are really Pension investment cars with a little driving . I'm easily distracted though. More cars more distraction ha! You know the score.

Recently Ive been thinking about selling the 912E , and also my daily runabout which is a Land Rover disco putting all that into a 2007-2010 911 C4S Coupe. I don't do a huge amount of mileage and just thought why not enjoy daily driving more and get something Ive always loved, and I don't need the disco capacity any more. Given the cost of insurance and servicing and general running costs on the disco I would probably be better off financially on the C4S. The 912E is a great car , but underused , and although we have a lot of space, its not unlimited.

Just wondered if anyone has a view on £ rise in 912Es and what state the 911 C4s is on the depreciation curve. As its a Gen II Im after would it still have a long way to fall before it bottoms. Im looking in the £35-45K area . Im not sure I can stretch to a 993 which is more of a established investment now forwards .

Odd one the 912e as it doesn't really fit anywhere, it's neither a 912 or a 914 or a 911. Value wise I'd be thinking a bit more than an equivalent condition 914? Top teens to low twenties on a good day maybe.

I sold mine for £9k but that was 10 years ago.

he's had this up a few times the last couple of weeks but tried an auction it reached mid twenties both times but didn't hit the reserve,there,s a decent 993 tip on 911uk at the mo a 35k,and a chap on there just sold his 993 manual had it up for 39k so they are out there on yours you,d be looking mid 20,s

I agree with saxon46, as we all have 912E's I tend to keep my eye on the market too and have watched the same brown one on Ebay. I don't think it will reach the £31k he is after, more like mid to late 20's tops. Its just too unknown in the UK to command a premium despite the condition.

Sadly they are generally regarded as relatively inexpensive 'fodder' for a hot-rod 911 build... I nearly bought a rust-free one minus engine and interior at Pomona a few years ago for $1500.

can't believe the 912 isn't finished yet - must be close to completion though !

I don't have a strong view on 912Es but I wouldn't expect a strong rise any time soon.

As for the 997 Gen 2, not sure there is much depreciation on them at the moment, if anything good examples are definitely going up in value.
I think there are a number of reasons, including a low number sold when first launched around the 2008 crash, and a lot of owners finding the 991 a different proposition. The topic is regularly discussed on the 911UK forum.

I have owned my 2009 C4S Manual for a couple of years now and I would like to think it is definitely worth more now than when I bought it. The manual gearbox cars are rarer than the PDK variants so are holding values well. I think you would struggle to get a half decent C4S manual for less than £40K but would need to budget £45k for a nice one - but I would recommend getting one!

KS - agree and its a shame, they are a very good car in their own right. Obviously I would say that owning one, but having less power does make them a nice cruiser. If Tanner Foust has one, thats good enough for me ... although I am sure he has a number of other cars to satisfy his need for speed.
