We have just made the first prototype of a front control arm bush housing to the front of the A Arm.
Many cars we see have damage to this component and it can make installing new bushes quite difficult as they are often ‘out of round’ or corroded quite badly.
They are made from a 7075-T6 Aluminium Alloy which has approximately the same strength as the steel pressing.
The first prototypes will be made using a modern bearing Grade Polymer – TIVAR 1000 which works without any lubrication.
These bushes will be ideal for use in trackday cars as we have been using them for several years and their wear characteristics are excellent.
There is a steel tube which has been electroless Nickel plated to provide a good quality sliding surface for the bush.
This plating method provides a surface which is both wear and corrosion resistant.
The housings will be anodised and a rubber bush to use on road cars is also in development.
Once this bush housing is completed we will develop a second housing for the rear of the control arm.
