My 66 came with what I believe to be VW headlights (not working ) whats the difference to look for and will they fit ? I am not a fan of the sugar scoop style lights
Wheres best to get full RHD light units ?
Thanks
Tom

Re: Headlights - 912
VW chrome rims are rounder in profile on the sides also have a tab at the bottom for the screw to fix them. Porsche flatter and have a hole at the bottom rather than a tab. Post a picture of what you have at the moment. most of all the other parts are interchangeable with the VW sloping headlights otherwise though may not be correct. Karmann Konnection sell the AFS headlight rims which are a very good product. 7 inch headlights can be sourced from any places on the internet. clear glass can be sourced from all of the usual VW suspects as a pattern part. The tinware as long as it does not have the cutout for the pilot light/indicator lamp is correct and can be reused, (or it can be used even if it has the hole).
Sugar scoops are not an original part for a 66 as far as I can remember.

In that case You could fit Bosch H4's which offer the combination of,
Easier to find
Decent light even with standard bulbs
Not that expensive
I'm not familiar with the prices and availability of VW headlight nor if they are easy to find in RHD lenses or how they compare with H4's.

Mike

Sugar scoops are 68 MY start. US safety regs forced a change on headlights and a redesign on the headlight covers.
