Strange but true (or happy birthday me and my 356)

Post by tmesis »

What are chances of buying a preA 356 that was registered on the exact day you were born?

Moreover, I didn't know this at the time of purchase. When I looked at the registration documents I couldn't believe it, the date was 23rd April 1954 - the exact day and year I was born! So tomorrow both me, and my Porsche will be 63 years old.

Also tomorrow is St. George's Day and Shakespeare's birth/death; the car is RHD so that makes it possibly the most English 356 around (if you see what I mean.)

ps. If you want to see pictures, look at my thread '356 owners in Surrey/Berks'

I wish I was as old as mine :( 1946 cars are a challenge. Even my 1948 Bristol was.

Old Porsche was still designing Tiger tanks and the 356 was a pipe dream when I was born. I think its really great when you have a connection with your car like that.

That is quite a coincidence especially as you weren't aware at the time. What are the chances of that happening. I wonder if anyone else and their car on ddk are close to the same age? I'm not even close.
Hope the two of you enjoy many more miles together.....

Regards
Mike

Ps Andy's bound to have had at least one pre-war classic
