Brake pad fitting kits ('74 911)

For those reading my restoration thread will know that I was having problems fitting a Pagid front brake pad fitting kit to my car.

I fitted the clip but soon realised that it didn't fit very well and also it grates against the rotor when I turn the wheel.
I bought the kit from Eurocarparts but looking on the Pagid database they don't claim to do a kit for my '74 911.


So I decided to buy a Delphi kit instead which now that it has arrived is similar to the Pagid one and again doesn't appear to be the right kit.

I notice that RosePassion sell a kit that in the photos look closer to the originals I have but at £46+ per kit it seems a tad expensive for two spring clips.

Can anyone confirm that the Delphi and Pagid clips are definitely the wrongs ones ( or am I fitting them wrong )?
Or better still anyone know of a source of known good kits for a better price?

As always any suggestions are much appreciated before I buy some more parts that don't fit!

Furthermore if anyone can identify my caliper type that would be helpful to me.

What is the bolt spacing of the calipers?

3" is the "M" caliper
3.5" is the "A" caliper

(The one piece aluminium "S" calliper also has 3.5" bolt spacing)

Why don't you give you're local Porsche centre a call

It looks like you have a Pagid kit for a 3.2 which has a thicker disc hence a wider calliper

Thanks for the advice gents - both front and rear calipers have 3" bolt spacing so that looks like they are M calipers.

After plenty of online searching there are plenty of inexpensive kits that are shown as compatible but none look like the genuine Porsche /ATE ones, with the two halves riveted together.

Anyone know of any reasonably priced fitting kits that do actually fit otherwise it looks like I will have to buy the expensive kits just for piece of mind?

I think that's right for the "M" but maybe someone (who actually knows!) can confirm. Not very expensive from Rose & probably cheap enough from your local dealer.

Thanks Bruce I've ordered a set of those from RosePassion. They claim they are only upto '73 but think they are the ones.
£13 a pair is better than the £50+ they want for the '74 ones!!

Just to say, the clips turned up and fit perfectly ( I'd almost forgotten what it was like to have the correct part and it fit effortlessly ).



Thought I would let others know as RosePassion don't list the clips on their own when you select a '74 car, only the full kits at £50+.
