Think it's probably only an alternative to the dynomat part of noise reduction which is only part of what you need

Very true...I just prefer the idea of a combined spray solution to heat and noise rather than the adhesive films which (although I know they are concealed by carpet) I don't like... due to the brand naming of dynomat or Eastwood being plastered all over them ...

In my 914 I'm removing the sound deadening mat on the engine bay side of the firewall.
Because the original pad is like a sponge, which soaks water like those oasis things you use to keep plants happy when you neglect them, as water likes to rain in through the horizontal engine grill.

And I'm also taking out the foam and vinyl backpad on the cabin side, and will be carpeting the firewall.
Because I'm going all "GT cool yeah man" for looks, but also more practically speaking because I am cutting an engine service hatch, plus installing harness mount points to the firewall.

But that's how far I have got in the decision making.

As I am already half deaf because of my hobbies, and don't want to make the tinnitus any worse.
And as I also go too fast and make engines hot, and don't fancy cooking myself or my passengers in the cabin...
I will surely want to have some heat and sound insulation on either side of the firewall: thin enough to go under the cabin side carpet, and good enough stuff not to act like a rust farm sponge on the engine side.

So I'm going to follow this thread in the hope it helps me learn what materials I should use...

Interesting stuff Jonathan. Looks like the only feedback on google is from themselves. Looks like a similar product to Lizard skin coatings which has some good feedback on the web. Hard to find a stockist in the UK though.
