You cant beat a swb rally car.... thanks for posting

115k in the current market for a 65 rally car seems reasonable if the car is solid and the new owner intends to race it. Money is probably to rich if the new owner intends to put it back to road spec, not many original parts seem to be left on the car and original parts for swb cars are now stupid money...

A couple of things, firstly the price is OK, secondly to get FIA HTP for this would require an engine rebuild with Solex carbs and also rebuilt as a 2.0L (ad mentions original engine case i.e. period correct. Another issue is the transmission, not sure if its orginal 901 or a 915 - the ad implies its not a 901 - would like this confirmed and if a 915 how they fitted it without too much in the way of mods to the transmission tunnel/seat bases? The wrong year gauges may cause an issue, but other than that all there. if it could be bought for 100k Euro its a great way to historic Porsche motorsport. But expect to spend £30-40k to get FIA papers.

Several other swb rally cars on the market at this moment in time and all for a fair bit more money. With the original Engine case seems a fair deal to me for a 65 car.

It might be an indication of the level of attention to detail (by the owner who had the car painted) that it doesn't appear to be gulf blue, not the gulf blue from the 60's anyway. Gulf blue from that era is different to the later gulf blue and was not a Porsche colour until 66MY so if, as the advert claims it is the 'original colour' my guess is that it will be a 66MY car built late 65.

Regards
Mike

Hey, that is not a '66 colour (Golfblau 6603). Gulf Blue did not come till later. We had a thread on this moons ago. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=38178
