Retrofit cdi and powerspark

Post by Orinoko »

Hi,has anyone fitted one of Jonnys cdi boxes and a powerspark module to replace points.

Have just done this and whilst the car runs perfect off idle and upwards if has an irregular tickover and sometimes stutters as you pull off.with points and Jonnys box it was ticking over like a modern car, smooth as you like.

It is wired to a switched supply in rear fusebox and I routed signal wire well away from HT leads.
Gap is correct between rotor and unit.Voltage at tickover is 13.5 volts.

Any ideas please.

We have run PowerSpark and Pertronix without issue. In fact, it should be 'better' than points as there is no possibility of 'bounce'.

Did you recheck the timing as it will certainly be different due to the position of the pickup?
