Shocks advice

Had my pre-mot check today to see how long the list was and not too bad. A bit of lights faffing plus the front lhs shock has a lot of play in it and needs replacing. So that needs to be a pair at the front and then without knowing what the rears are like, probably a reason to go for all 4.

What are the choices? I have to say the way the car drives is good at the moment (first drive weyhey!!), very kart like, so I want to keep that.

Took the plunge and went for the Koni Sport fully adjustables. You will wonder why you haven't done it before!

Got mine from larkspeed in Yorkshire at a great price!

I've had both Koni and Bilstein on our 914 and 914/6. Both are excellent, Bilstein probably marginally better.

I got a full set of bilsteins for mine and it transformed the car

Hi Graham - we are Koni dealers if that helps?

Thanks Angus, the PO says they are konis so if I do need new ones I'll probably stay with Konis otherwise I'll have to change struts I think. Is that right?

Is it possible and cost effective to refurb konis?

I'll post some pics, but I don't think they are konis. The front struts are black with no identifying marks, but the rears are orange and say Boge.

Need to work out what that means.

The front RH strut does have a lot of play, just like the MoT man says, so definitely needs doing. Really obvious, so much for the PPI!

The front bits you can see are just the outer case - the actual shock inserts are inside those so you can't see what you've got on the front until you've taken them apart.

Mine were orange on the back - the bilsteins will fit. I needed spacers on my rear shocks - probably because of the higher rate springs I used which are shorter than stock.
