DDK new boy and paint
Hi, I've had a 912 imported from the US for about 6 years now but have only recently found the time to crack on with it. It is black in colour having had two bad resprays in its life so I'm thinking it's time to take it back to the original Bahamagelb. I was looking at the Mini Volcanic Orange which is quite a close match. I'd be happy to hear your opinions on this. Depending in the light the mini can appear more orange than the Porsche, at other times more yellow. Thanks. Paul.

Hi Paul,
welcome,
always good to have another 912 onboard
If you're going to return it to it's original Bahama Yellow you might as well get the colour as right as you can.
Jamie's car was recently painted Bahama Yellow.
Darren65's place painted it and it's spot on imo.
I'm sure if you drop Darren65 a message he'd advise you about painting it.

Here's a link to another Bahama yellow restoration in the US:

Any more details on your car? any photos?
all the best

Re: DDK new boy and paint
Thanks for the links. I think Darryls was one of the first I came across when I first got the car and I've been ploughing through Jamies thread! No one seems to have a definite match and the mini does look good. Here's an old picture of my car before the paint started to fade and blister. As I peel off the old paint I can see the original colour...I don't think they even keyed the surface, so if I can find a swatch I'll get a match. At the moment I'm just about to tackle the front suspension pan...the usual hole under the battery and cross member. I had tried to patch it but now realise it would be better and easier to pop in a new panel. After this I'll sort the paint.

You can always get the paint mixed in Glasurit if your worried about your painter not getting it right.
Having had a Bahama Yellow car the colour of those mini's is nowhere near imo.
Good luck with it and keep us all updated

Cool colour, i'd definitely go for that if the subconscious coa police weren't bothering me but not had the coa back yet......
