Winter jobs on my 914

Been having far to much fun driving the 914 that we've not got around to photographing it or doing any of those odd jobs.
So today Larry has fitted new headlights and rubberseals around the sidelights.

Delighted that the sockets were clean with no sign of any rust

We had new "porsche classic" radio fitted

so Larrys now setting up the bluetooth.

Hope she's behaving herself, Helen & that all is well. What a difference the new headlights have made! After storm Desmond, would imagine your next job will be the targa main seal......!

Been out a couple of times in the rain not including driving it home from your place and so far it hasn't leaked at all. So we'll be leaving the targa seal as it is for the moment.

Its running very well. Bit fast on tick over which i thought might settle with use but isn't.

Thanks- is the 49 euro price for one or two lights- I'm presuming that is for one only, not a set. Was there anything in addition that needs to be ordered?

Had this problem once before. Look back in the servicing invoices from SCS Porsche. They diagnosed & fixed the problem. May be the same thing again......

From restoring a couple of 914s a few years ago I remember the headlights as being standard 7" generic units, available anywhere: Cibie, Lucas, Hella, Chinese copies, you name it. The only thing to watch out for is that overseas suppliers automatically provide LHD units without thinking that we use something different.
Nowadays LED units are on the horizon, they provide better light output with vastly reduced wattage, their price should be reasonable within a year or two.

Hi Helen,

I'd be very wary of buying headlights from abroad as previously said they'll sell you LHD units.
It's hard to tell but looking at your photo's this may be the case.

Here's an easy way for you to check.

When my 914 gets here, I plan on fitting some of the Nighthawk LEDs they have been raving about over on the 914world.

Nothing authentic in any way about lights like those, but bright as heck!
And with a 914 you have the lights tucked out of the way when the detail police are looking anyway

All that said, has anyone done the research already and got a link to RHD Nighthawks for sale? The LED threads on the 'world are all very LHD centric...
It's a good point about making sure you don't click on a good price, only to receive LHD units...
