gearbox case

Post by scalino65 »

Hi
Can anyone help me identify this case please? Also, how do I check to see if its ok?
its dated 34/67, seems to be ali. Unfortunately, the actual part code (901 or 902,etc) is not visible - maybe scraped on someting.

HI Will
looks like you have a late 1967 case which would have been fitted to a 1968 car, poss a 911 or a 912, would need the box No' of the bottom near the bell housing, the type No' could be up at the other end

if there is any damage it could be ;

loose bearings
bearing centre plate has loose bearings, the clamp plate has been fretting, the plate is cracked/stretched
the diff side plate is poss' cracked, the diff bearing is loose in the case or the side plate

or some one has take all the parts out to put in a matching No' car';s gearbox, or have you a box of parts for the case

regards mike
