My new 911e
I have just returned from a very enjoyable 450 mile drive back to London from Glasgow in my new (to me) 1973 2.4 911e - courtesy of Mike (210 bhp)!
After a few hours or so of getting used to the ins and outs of mfi I found the whole experience - engine sound, responsiveness and handling - amazing. The car was also surprisingly comfortable for so many motorway miles - which surprised me as I didn't expect that for a 42 year old car. I am a very happy new owner - the car is addictive and it's hard to resist the temptation to take it out.
The car will be going in for restoration soon - and will be put back to metallic green (its currently blue). I have a slot at historika and would be grateful for any feedback on them.
Thanks very much to Mike for selling me the car - I know that it was very hard for him to part with it - but I have assured him that he will see it again and I will post regular updates of its progress on the forum.

Re: My new 911e
Glad you had a save journey home with Mike's first 911. Glad to hear that it will be returning to it's original colour. Looking forward to following the progress.

Re: My new 911e
Congratulations it's a wonderful car, Mike was kind enough to let me drive the car a few years ago. Very strong and well sorted engine. Enjoy.
I should also say, the E is the best car in my opinion. Don't let anyone tell you different.

Glad it worked out - enjoy it while you can as you won't see it for a while if it goes in for a resto!
Well done.

Re: My new 911e
Thanks all - trying to work out how to post pictures - and will post some when I've worked it out. The years haven't been kind to the bodywork on the car - hence the need for the full restoration ( it's a mix of blue with patches of brown rust at the moment!) What it lacks in looks though is made up for by the engine.

Re: My new 911e
I won't lie and say I'm not sad. However, Vimal was a perfect gentleman to deal with and I can see that the glint in his eye on collection was a reflection on the care and attention I have no doubt he will give it.
The car deserves a new lease of life with the body restored to metallic green although the engine, gearbox and suspension are very strong and the car is amongst the best early 911's I've driven. The engine spec really makes it an S in E clothes. Neil managed to acquire 198bhp with a complete rebuild on the original engine.
I can see that in restored condition I'm going to be full of regret but it couldn't have gone to a nicer buyer and that counts for a lot. I look forward to the resto updates and perhaps a future reunion on a Ddk road run sometime.
Regards
Mike

Re: My new 911e
I appreciate the nice messages. I have just bought my ticket for classics at the castle for next Sunday and hope to get to meet some of you up there. Seems a good idea to have a chat to some of the restorers too

Re: My new 911e
Looks a lovely car Vimal. I've got a 2.4E as well - just love it. It's also spec'd up to an S, it goes little a little rocket
have fun!
