Pre 69 A-Frame rear bushes

Post by hughicol »

I've noticed quite a lot of discussion regarding less expensive bushes for the A-Frame on pre 69 SWB 911s+912s but did any ever materialise?

I haven't seen any discussion about <68 bushings, but your 68 should have the same bushes as later LWB cars

I suggest you look up pre 69 and you will see that the rear bush on the front A-Frame is far different to the later 69 on. Price is in excess of £200. If you also follow down the forum you will see at least 2 references to the said bushes and tech9 were supposedly producing some.

Thank you for your suggestion. But as you are not listening, I will repeat. The 68 front bush set up is the same as 69 on. Here is the front A arm from a 68S with standard later Superpro bushes.

Far from me not listening I think it's you not reading, I wrote about bushes not a specific bush, I know the front bush is the same but the rear bush isn't. You conveniently modified your comment to the front bush.

Further to my previous submission I have investigated further and found that both the front and rear bushes for the A-Frame on <69 SWB cars are totally different from the 69> LWB cars. Part numbers are Front A-Frame bush 914 341 422 00 and the expensive one the rear is 901 341 421 03.

I have been selling these bushes to 68 owners for 10 years with no complaints. The front and rear bushes AT THE FRONT are the same.

That's odd as all the sites state that the rear bush is far different to the front and also although the front one is very similar to the 69 on it's not strictly correct. Spoke to Chris's Flavell who confirms that pre 69 A-Frame bushes are very different and he has produced a replacement set for pre 69s.

The rear bush consists of 3 parts I.e. Outer metal, middle rubber and inner metal and depending what you have when you remove the frame from the cross member dictates what action you have to take. As it appears that the rubber section of one of my rear bushes has perished I hoping that the metal outer will remain in the cross member and the metal inner will remain on the frame both still in good condition and then I can insert a replacement made by Chris. So at the first opportunity I get I will be removing the cross member with both A-Frames and replacing all the bushes after powder coating the lot.

Why don't you post a picture of the bushes, that will clear up the issue and save you buying the wrong replacement bushes?
