If they are M8 then you could open them out to M10 assuming there is enough material around the hole. Run an 8.5mm drill through to clean them up and then tap away.

I bought the HSS set. I had carbon steel taps before and whilst they are useful for cleaning out threads if you wish to cut one from scratch you'll just break the tap. I now use it all the time when working on the car, so worth the investment.

Open out the holes in the door hinge to 10.5 or 11 to give you some adjustment.

alternatively you can heli-coil the hole and use the M8 bolts
Porscheless but still aircooled
