Where's the join?

When Porsche went from the very early SWB to the longer LWB cars, what did they actually change (other than the length
)?
I believe the early wings and bonnet are not interchangable but how about the body from the floor pan/front screen pillars to the rear quarter sections? I imagine it remained much the same but would appreciate any comments regarding interchangability.

Bonnets are the same '65-'73
Engine lid opening stayed the same from '65-'89 so any lid from this period will fit but early '65-'67 engine lids had a central vertical 'bar' which may look incorrect on a later car.
Floorpans, sills, doors are all interchangeable between swb & lwb (pre-'74) models.
Front wings are different around the sidelight/indicator/horn grille area & have slightly different headlamp buckets.
Front bumpers have different mountings. Rear bumpers are different lengths.
Rear number plate panels are interchangeable.
That's all I can think of offhand.

Thanks Andy. Can I take it that the rear quarters and rear inner wings are the same?

No the the rear Quaters are not the same the flair is diffrent and the tortion bar hole is in a diffrint position. p.s I karnt zpel!

...and I'd imagine the wheel aperture might well be in a different place to accomodate the revised wheel base with the shorter trailing arms...other than that you'll be fine!
