Anyone fancy calling Marco to find the price of this?

Would be interesting to see (although I gather he's not known for giving cars away but, then again, who does?)

Other than the RS engine I don't see the attraction of these at all

Verging on 996 ugly. :P :P

They're great cars - although they look much better in vivid 'safety' colours ...

Steve, could you please start talking of 'half the price'. I'd appreciate it.

What?! These things are already at £175k, or is this a "look darling, DDK is saying that they appreciated considerably already, so another £15 000 to that nice man Mr Moss is all worth it, dontcha fink?" plot?

Ah and Jason, do drive one if you can. A world of difference between -say- a carrera 3.2 vs a lite and nimble C2.7, not so much difference between an RS touring and an IB. However, you do have to deal with the "down-with-the-poor side of porschering" looks. Yes: a smite annoying, but if your ego is sufficiently ok: a small price to pay for a lot of driving involvement and "that" noise. This is most definetly a case of "you cannot see" what the attraction is, and neither will a spreadsheet give you an outcome. You need to experience it.
Btw, this is from somebody who was lucky to experience a pristine RST and a rusty, schmoking nail of a c2.7- but what a drive that was!

if I was going down the IB route .. I'd be looking at a C3.0 . Just seems to me the C3 defines where Porsche took the next step for mechanical developmet after the early cars. The 2.7C was just a lazy 'facelift' ;)

I had one 10 years ago, a great driver's car, but without the "is that a real one mister?" questions. Of course I should have kept it, it would have been worth at least £175K now (after all it was LHD). At least I didn't back date it

I fully agree with James. Carrera 2.7: piece of pish. Carrera 3: better than investing in gold, innit.

To be fair I'm not sure I've ever driven one although the feeling of nausea from viewing the outside would quickly turn to blowing chunks on seeing the inside and this in turn make it a tad difficult to pedal and still be able to see through the vegetable laden windscreen.

It happens, it happens. All part of the desensitisation and a small price to pay for the finer things in life, eh.

In my car, you'll get a reward if you barf in the paper bag rather than in the passenger footwell.

We'll get there in the end.

The way early 911 prices are going (have gone), makes 'mid-year' models look like positive bargains ...

I think the problem with the 74/5 Carrera coupes is that beyond squidgy bumpers they didn't offer anything over an RS touring and that they made too many of them.

Rarity and performance must combine for maximum value.

Which is why the 74/5 Targa is where the smart money goes. Only 600 made in total, just 40 for the UK and only 10 are known to still be here and working. Now that's rare. Add to that the fact that the car is absolutely unique in being the only time Porsche have *ever* put their high performance motorsport engine in an open car and you'll start to see why they are the choice of the discerning collector, enthusiast and gentleman.
964 C2 Targa. 205 1.6 GTi. Testarossa. Fisher Fury Fireblade. Motorhome. Motorbikes. Scooters. Pushbikes. Threadbare Saucony Peregrines. Dog. Human relations and friends. 97.5%-built house.
