1973 S Targa RHD
1973 S Targa RHD
this Targa caught my eye and looks quite nice
would anyone hazard a guess what it would be worth if fitted with a (non matching numbers) S spec engine?
cheers

OK, I'll have a go:squirdan wrote:would anyone hazard a guess what it would be worth if fitted with a (non matching numbers) S spec engine?
A top flight RHD 2.4S coupe, matching numbers = £90k+?
A quality restored RHD 2.4S coupe, non-matching numbers = £70k?
A good condition RHD 2.4S coupe, non-matching numbers = £50k?
A top flight RHD 2.4S targa, matching numbers = £65k+?
A quality restored RHD 2.4S targa, non-matching numbers = £45k?
A good condition RHD 2.4S targa, non-matching numbers = £35k?
A good condition RHD 2.4S targa, with a 2.2T engine = £25-30k?
YMMV.

Re: 1973 S Targa RHD
There might be a SLIGHT premium for the colour. Glacier blue is rare.
Interesting that RHD 2.4S coupes have a premium over targas when you consider the rarity of each. 144 coupes and 46 targas.
Regards
Mike

Re: 1973 S Targa RHD
Coupes will always have a premium over Targas irrespective of numbers....desirability/demand outweighs rarity in this case.
They are rarer as they were less popular.....and always will be.

Re: 1973 S Targa RHD
The advert says that it was supplied by PCGB Falcon works on 01/02 1973, but a quick check on the DVLA vehicle enquiry website says the following:
Vehicle enquiry
The enquiry is complete. The vehicle details for 674 BAN are:

Date of First Registration 06 06 1974
Year of Manufacture 1973
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2400cc

Anyone have any info on this car, or any ideas why this might be?
It's just that I have a 2.2 911T, but with a 1973 2.4S engine fitted - that is all!
Cheers,
Kevin

Re: 1973 S Targa RHD
I think there were a couple of other threads last year about 2.4S Targa values if I remember correctly. A nice looking silver RHD S that was fitted with a T engine. Seller was on ddk and may be helpful re pricing
There was also a LHD to RHD converted yellow car that needed quite a lot of bodywork that I think ended up in an auction.
I had a think about both but when I worked it out, I would be in for £50k+ for either car finished to a decent standard and I would rather have a coupe.
Rare colour but not my favourite - I liked the silver one (despite generally not being a fan of silver).
Good luck.

The force is strong in this one ......
Re: 1973 S Targa RHD
i think this one is massively overpriced myself
but as I have a 2.4S engine that I removed from the RHD T targa I sold, it just got me thinking!

so if I bought this car, are you suggesting an engine swap could be on the cards for the right cash?Grindon wrote:The advert says that it was supplied by PCGB Falcon works on 01/02 1973, but a quick check on the DVLA vehicle enquiry website says the following:

Re: 1973 S Targa RHD
Just thinking out loud really. I was pondering buying it, swapping engines with my 2.4S engined 911T 2.2 Coupe, and I would then have two non matching but correct engined cars.squirdan wrote:so if I bought this car, are you suggesting an engine swap could be on the cards for the right cash?
Did you say you already have a 2.4S engine spare from your sold Targa?
Cheers,
Kevin
btw - I agree that car sounds overpriced. I know that's a bit harsh not having seen it though

OK so this is a US car and therefore in LHD, but is an S and has desirable extras like sport seats
it just went for $54k which is £35k
