35k mile, 3 owner, RHD, unrestored 1972 2.4 T

This is a remarkable little car.

It is a RHD, 1972 side-filler T and was delivered new in July of that year by Ian Anthony Ltd. It has had just three private owners : The first until 1977 and the second only relinquishing ownership to his son when he passed away in 2002. It has covered just 35,000 miles and comes with its original maroon Maintenance Record and wallet and a clutch of MoTs back as far as 1976.

What makes it exceptional is that, despite our mixed climate, it has never been restored.

The interior is original and lovely, all of the panel gaps are as they left the factory and the car drives with a tightness and smoothness that is absent in all but the very best restored cars.

It was MoTd as recently as 2009 and could easily be lightly recommissioned and driven as it is, but there would be a real delight in making it something truly exceptional.

Without much more than careful paintwork, detailing and a sympathetic mechanical overhaul it could be built into one of the very best surviving RHD cars in the world.

It's properly lovely inside but the paint is poor so I don't see it going out exactly like it is, it deserves better, but I also don't want to start doing the work as there are various levels it could be done to and sods law is that the buyer will want it done differently to whatever I decided to do.

Because of this it's difficult to say what figure it might end up at, but for the sake of the rules: £40k would probably be the least you could get away with unless you're happy to drive about with the dark shadowy bit on the passenger's door and a little bleb on top of one of the wings. It's heavily waxoyled underneath so if you want to enter concours we'd need to strip and refurb the underside, which would obviously cost a lot more.

Something like this really needs to be discussed on the phone to understand what it is and what might be possible with it, hence the vagueness and request to call.
