Hi my name is Bob I live in the midlands and have a 914,which I started restoring 20 years ago.I started with a complete body rebuild converting it to rhd.I fitted a 3.2 Carrera engine and gearbox which required changing the crownwheel to the other side of the pinnion.It has had the brakes upgraded to 911 along with larger drive shafts five stud Fuchs wheels and Koni shocks.The project was abandoned about 15 years ago because of work commitments but I am keen to finish it now.I have numerous supplus 914 spares including some 911 2.2 engine parts and a mint 3.2 flywheel and clutch.

Sounds like an interesting and involved project you took on .
Best of luck finishing it ...... Belgium this May might be pushing it a bit but hope we see you at the 914 International in Austria in 2013 !

p.s. Midlands ? would that be Wolverhampton by any chance ?

Sounds like you have a very interesting project.

I know a lot of DDKers will love to see photos of your project and would be interested in how you did your conversion to RHD.

What needs to be done to get the 914 on the road?

Hi Kevin I need to make a pedal box and hopefully find some way of incorporating a servo.The interior needs finishing and the dash wiring needs modifying.I am also concerned with possible cooling issues and am thinking of fitting air ducts through the rear roof pilars to direct more air into the engine compartment.To cary out the conversion I had to increase the size of the o/s footwell which meant I had to modify the fuel tank.The dash had to be cut into several pieces and rearranged just leaving the heater controls in the original place.I moved the hand brake into the other sill but I am thinking of moving that to the centre and re desigining the gear linkage to come out of the lower dash.The steering was a doddle as it was just a matter of cranking the column the other way.The crash pad on the top of the dash I cut into six pieces and just slottet it all together using thick welding wire coated the whole lot in fiberglass and after filling and smothing down I had it re covered proffesionally.There were numerous other problems but this is just some of the basics'
