Change oil: spring or fall?

Post by Jonas »

:?:

It is preferable to change the motoroil before or after winter storage (or is it equally good)?

Hum...

3 x 4l of Castrol GTX equal to ? 100 EUR

Conclusion: Both - not an option; got to chose one.

You could always use a cheaper oil whilst it's in storage.

If it has to be one or the other, then it's much better to change the oil prior to storing the car for the winter - this ensures that 'old' oil which may contain acidic residues will not 'sit' in contact with bearing surfaces.

Jonas, have a read of this poll on the Early 911S register. Take a look at some of the comments from people who have worked in the 'oil' industry, see what they have to say about Castrol and the like....especially the one from "GreenT"

...interesting reading I thought.
