NEW BOY FROM LIVERPOOL
hi all just saying hello (never realised that the porsche bug could bite so hard).
the kids have finally left home and i can start looking for a 911 as i am new to the porsche car i need all the help i can get
i do like the look of the targa my budget is 10-12k so i guess i am looking for an 80!s version.
i have been advised that i need to do a lot of research and reading so
1 which are the best magazines
2 where would i be looking for problems with the chassis ie rust etc
3 what are kidney bowls ?
4 at what age is the car eligible for classic car insurance
any help would be greatfully appreciated PAUL

Welme to the forum. If you're in the Market for qn 80's car it would be a good idea to also join impact bumpers (not trying to kick you off here or anything - I'm on both forums every day)

Forgot to answer your questions - do a search on rust on impact bumpers - there are quite a few threads detaillli g common problems.
Similar stuff on here but as the cars are older the rust is often a lot worse so more full resto threads
The kidney bowls are behind the door jambs and ae a bit of a crud/moisture trap
You should get classic insurance for stuff before 1990 - normally on limited mileage
The magazines are all similar ti each other - there have been a number of buying guides in 911&porsche world. I think you have to go a long way to beat the information on here and impact bumpers though (and on pelican parts as well)
Good luck
